I am using ttrss from freebsd ports which is fairly up to date at any given point, on pgsql 11.3 but I don’t think those things are relevant. PHP version is 7.2.

my guess would be freebsd doing something weird with php interpreter (again), which is not something that i’m not going to be able to help you with
Hmm it shows up in Firefox, I just did it as a block quote.
I don’t know what’s going on but I’ve basically abandon RSS because of this. If I can help debug and you are willing to look let me know.
what exactly is showing up? the daemon doesn’t start any more tasks because both are busy, this is what the log you’ve posted says.
try running tt-rss backend daemon on a linux VM while sharing a common database, see if that fixes it.
alternatively, try increasing log level when using update.php (--help), try using non-forking update daemon so it would be easier to see if there’s some specific feed which causes a hang, use latest tt-rss git instead of whatever you’re running

i gave you a bunch of suggestions above, instead of following those you decided to enrich me with your meme opinions on php and, for some reason, post your list of feeds. maybe you should be using something else.

I’ve isolated one problematic feed down to some kind of date problem http :// www. theregister .co .uk /headlines.atom which was showing 1970 in the logs above. I’ve deleted that shit and it is working better. No more unbounded proc spawning and ttrssd seems to be keeping up.
For what it’s worth I have latest ttrss from git (and not freebsd ports) on freebsd 12, php7.3, and postgresql 11, and also have the feed from the register in my feed list. And I have no problems at all. So it’s something specific to you.
Freebsd is more popular than fox would like to think but you won’t get any love if you use the bundled package. Check it out from git and keep it updated.
